Fresno State - Oregon Wrap Up

jesus wept

well , the one saving grace is that we lost by 31 as opposed to Michigan losing by 32 to Oregon (at home!) the previous week, suck on that Lloyd Carr ...

the WAC season starts next ... and this should be the silver lining ... i think 7-1 in WAC play is very obtainable
that will put the Bulldogs at 8-3 plus the Kansas State game

up next (after the bye week) is LA Tech, who also played a Top 20 Pac 10 ... and got smashed as bad as we did

Fresno State vs Oregon Ducks preview

last year's game between these two schools was in Fresno. The game was close until Oregon pulled off a fake FG that they ran in for a touchdown. After that game (the 2nd game of the season, and the Bulldogs first loss) the wheels done fell right off the entire season

the Bulldogs took last years oh-so-close loss and turned it into 7 game losing streak (including 1 point losses at Washington and something called Utah State)

But ... this years team is relatively baggage free, that's one thing about a rebuilding year, while you don't have any of the guys who won games for you, you don't have the guys who suffered through the losses. Also, i don't know how the Bulldogs scored 24 with what i remember as such week in and week out awful play from the QB slot. QB Tom Brandstater showed he's much improved in the 2nd half (plus 3 OT) of last week's loss at Texas A&M, so the Bulldogs got that going for them.

The Ducks are the team that put the most recent smackdown on Michigan (they also made the highlight reel for their mascot's fetch me a switch treatment of the Houston Cougars opening week) . But Michigan lost to Hillbilly Tech the week before and Houston hasnt played anybody else yet so who knows how meaningful those wins will look at the end of the season.

I originally didn't have much confidence in this week's game but I'd forgotten how close last year's game against Oregon was. The Bulldogs scored 24 and lost on a trick play despite having a crappy offense.

I think these barely-legal Bulldogs come out fired up, get a few turnovers and keep this thing interesting. Can they score 45 again? No. But I don't think they'll need to, i think the Oregon wins this one, but the Bulldogs will be in the mix of it for most of the game ...

Oregon 35-Bulldogs 30

I also think the Bulldogs will use these last 2 games to catapult into a 6 game winning streak putting them at 7-2 going into the game at Hawaii

The game is 4pm Pacific on ESPN Gameplan

Fresno State - Texas A&M wrap-up

This was going to be the 2007 roadtrip game for me and my crew, but we passed on it ... so of course that came back to bite us

what a game! triple-OT ... the Bulldogs come back from a 19-0 at the half hole and fight back harder than Ike Turner at a wig convention ... the Bulldogs looked so anemic in the first half that Fox Sports accidently flashed the score as 109-0 at halftime and i wasnt sure if it mattered ... but what a 2nd half ... we found out that we've got us a QB (sorry, Tom Brandstater, i never really meant those things i spat at the tv last season, i've even already forgotten about that stupid first half safety you gave away)

so after just one real game, this barely legal Bulldog team has won me over, 45 points? who saw that coming? I felt they'd keep this close but never really thought they had the offense to win this ... but i guess i was wrong, so wrong that i'm willing to forget all about last season ... the defense still can't stop the option, but who cares, i don't know how many more times we'll see an option heavy team this year ... before the A&M game i didnt hold much promise for this year, but i think we're gonna be all right , plus look out 2008 and 2009

Fresno State - Texas A&M preview

keys to a Bulldogs victory

1) Pat Hill and Tom Brandstater reveal that they've punked all of us and the past 13 games were just a ploy to catch A&M off-guard

2) Texas A&M is not allowed to advance the ball on offense

3) Texas Longhorns alum discovers arcane language the creates an NCAA ruling which allows David Carr to regain eligibility to play against Texas A&M

4) Aggies play in a daze after school library burns down (tragically most of the books haven't been colored in yet)
